Shocked residents woke up on Thursday to see their car windows broken and stereos missing. "We received a complaint that the windows of the cars were broken and the stereos were stolen. The thieves targeted 12 cars," said a senior police officer.

The police said that C8 Block where the incident happened has 15 gates that are manned by seven guards.

They said the guards were sleeping when the incident happened. They also suspect the involvement of a local gang.

"We have made teams and are checking nearby areas. We hope to find the thieves soon," said a senior police officer.
The police are specifically analysing the modus operandi of the thieves.

On March 1, stereos were stolen from 40 cars in Mayur Vihar. "They broke the side glass, rolled down the window and stole the stereos," said a senior police officer.

The police are not ruling out the involvement of the same gang in the two incidents.
