While you may have experience as a practising lawyer in India, the same would not necessarily translate into “relevant experience” for an LPO as they work on issues relating to US or foreign laws.

Corporate law work, especially in the areas of contracts and company law, will be considered relevant for the LPO space.

But you don’t need to have practised law in India to start a career with an LPO organisation. You could join an LPO after graduation (or intern/do a short stint with them earlier to get an idea) and get trained in their areas of practice. Alternatively, since securing a job with an LPO firm is not easy, you could obtain training from an independent organisation focusing on these areas and then look to get placed with an LPO company after completing law school.

While the LPOs themselves provide specific training on areas handled by them you could also consider undergoing separate training with an independent training organisation which would prepare you for entering the LPO space.

The MCom and MBA qualifications would be helpful as well moving down the line as a fair amount of US and foreign law work handled by LPO firms (especially on the litigation side) requires an understanding of business and the manner in which corporations function.

Automation and robotics
Are there any colleges in North India that offer a B Tech degree in Automation and Robotics?
— Akshay Goel

It is difficult to find colleges offering specialisation in Robotics/Automation at the Bachelor’s level. Therefore, it is advisable that you pursue your B.Tech first, preferably in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Communication/Computer Engineering branch and then specialise in Automation and Robotics.

Some institutes offer robotics as part of their course in Mechanical/Electrical/Computer Engineering only.

The Centre for Mechatronics, earlier known as the Centre for Robotics at IIT Kanpur offers a Master and Doctoral level degree in Robotics. The University of Hyderabad, MS University (Baroda), the Institute of Technology under Banaras Hindu University, the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (Pilani), offer Master’s programmes in Robotics, among others.
