In the latest round (2011 Q4) of the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) released by the Media Research Users' Council on Monday, HT has once again been declared the leading newspaper of Delhi, and of the National Capital Region (NCR) — for the eighth consecutive time. What's more, HT has reaffirmed its position as the newspaper of choice among the more affluent and educated households, with 1.55 lakh higher daily readership in SEC-A than TOI.

Over the last year, HT has been the first to report on several local, national and international stories. As the leading paper of Delhi NCR, HT has also brought you its path-breaking initiatives of Delhi First, Gurgaon First and Noida First, where it has taken up your problems with the powers that be. HT has also rolled out initiatives like Delhi100, celebrating the city's centenary as the national capital and sought a roadmap for a better future. Nationally, HT is the fastest growing English daily, having added 1.99 lakh readers in the last one year.

In Mumbai, with 7.81 lakh readers, HT continues to be the No. 2 broadsheet daily for the sixth time in a row and the only one to have grown in 13 out of the last 14 IRS rounds. In fact, HT grew 27% during the last year, while the readership for TOI remained broadly flat in the same period. With this, HT Mumbai now reaches more than 5 lakh exclusive readers who do not read TOI.

Mint, HT Media's business newspaper, has further consolidated its No. 2 position with 2.58 lakh daily readers, while Economic Times has registered a drop of 22,000 readers. Mint's growth has been on the back of its rising readership in Mumbai, as also in Delhi-NCR, its stronghold. It also continues to have the best reader profile among all business dailies, both in terms of metro skew (95% from top metros) as well as SEC A proportion (71% SEC A)

Hindustan, the Group's Hindi daily, strengthened its No 2 position among all newspapers in India with a huge 3.81 crore Total Readership, which represents an addition of nearly 30 lakh readers in the past year, driven by the launch of several new editions in UP/ Uttarakhand. The paper continues to be the dominant No. 1 in Bihar and Jharkhand and is the fastest-growing Hindi daily in Uttar Pradesh. It also continues to be the second largest Hindi daily in Delhi-NCR, with a 23.99 lakh Total Readership.
