The Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested an alleged contract killer and his associate in the Capital on Wednesday.
"Babloo Jha, allegedly called 'terror of north Bihar' and his associate Kundan Mishra were apprehended from Jaitpur," said Arun Kampani, DCP (Special Cell).
Jha is wanted in about 17 cases of murder, robbery and extortion while Mishra is wanted in three cases. The police recovered 12 SIM cards of various operators, including one SIM of Nepal, and four mobile phones from them.
Jha told police that he started his criminal activities in 2001 when he committed two robberies in which he was arrested and remained in jail for about 16 months.
"After coming out of jail in 2003, he again started committing robberies and was arrested in 2005. This time he remained in jail for about 17 months before being released in 2006. In 2008 he committed murder of Vinod Rai, a rival gangster. Later, he started collecting extortion money and whoever had the courage to refuse his demands was eliminated," Kampani added.
During a short span of time, he allegedly committed several murders, extended threats for extortion and extorted money from various prominent people in Sitamarhi including road contractors, engineers of PWD and NHPC; and prominent doctors.
"Due to increasing pressure from the police they left Bihar and shifted their base to Delhi and started living in Jaitpur," Kampani said.
This year alone, he allegedly demanded extortion money from an engineer of NHPC in Sitamarhi, a private doctor from Sitamarhi, a headmaster of a government school and Block Education Officer of Major Ganj.
