The driver of the bus that crushed a 13-year-old boy and injured seven people at a traffic intersection in New Delhi was arrested on Monday.
The absconding driver of a private bus that crushed a 13-year-old boy and injured seven people at a traffic intersection in New Delhi was arrested on Monday, police said.
Jaswinder Singh, the Blue Line bus driver, was taken into custody from his home in northwest Delhi for causing death by negligent and rash driving.
"He was taken for medical examination. Only after the report comes will we be able to say if he was under the influence of alcohol while driving," a police officer said.
Jaswinder Singh was behind the wheels of the speeding bus on Sunday noon when it hit a two-wheeler and six cars near a traffic signal in Rajouri Garden area.
Thirteen-year-old Morick, who was on the pillion of his father's scooter with his brother, was crushed under the wheels of the bus. He was a class 5 student of SM Jain Montessori School in north Delhi.
Morick's father Sunder Sharma and his other son, Gorick, were discharged after first aid.
Delhi Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf will meet Blue Line bus operators on Tuesday to discuss installation of speed governors in the buses, an official said on Monday.
The Delhi High Court had suggested that Blue Line buses should have speed governors.
