Following a cylinder blast, a four-storey building collapsed, injuring three persons in Karol Bagh on Tuesday.
The police said that the cylinder exploded when Shyam, a labourer, opened the basement shutter of building 2745 in Beedanpura area and switched on the light.
“The magnitude of the blast was such that the building collapsed in no time and three people, including Shyam, were injured. They were taken to BL Kapur Hospital, where their condition is said to be critical,” said a police officer.
The officer added that the owner of the building, one Rajesh Chaudhary, and labourers worked at a jewellery factory in the basement.
The other two injured have been identified as Ghanshyam and Radha Rani.
“They were passing through the lane when the cylinder exploded. The roof collapsed and the shutter broke into pieces,” the officer added.
