Former cricketer arrested with cocaine
The Narcotics Branch of Delhi Police nabs Maninder Singh along with another person, reports Vijaita Singh.
Former Test cricketer Maninder Singh has been detained for questioning for possessing cocaine, police said on Tuesday.
The Narcotics Branch of Delhi Police arrested Singh with another person Sayam Siddiqui in Preet Vihar, East Delhi.
Police said that Singh was carrying 1.5 grams of cocaine and Siddiqui had 10 grams.
The former cricket lives in Gagan Vihar Apartment in east Delhi and Siddiqui is a resident of nearby Pratapkhand.
At the time of filing the report Singh was still being questioned at the Shakarpur office of the Narcotics Branch.
Police said Siddiqui had been under observation as there was a specific information that he was delivering drugs.
Police reportedly arrested them when Siddiqui was leaving after delivering the narcotics substance to him.
"I know Maninder for many years. It's shocking. He cannot be doing cocaine," said RD Singh, a family friend.
Neither the Test cricketer nor a lawyer representing him could be reached for a comment.
