Gujjar leader joins Congress
Ahead of the assembly elections in Delhi, Gujjar leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri joins the Cong. An MLA from Badarpur constituency, Bidhuri had quit the NCP earlier this month, reports HT Correspondent.
Ahead of the assembly elections in Delhi, Gujjar leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri joined the Congress on Friday. An MLA from Badarpur constituency, Bidhuri had quit the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) earlier this month.
It is a homecoming for the Gujjar leader who had quit the Congress and joined the NCP in 1999.
Mahesh Awana and Mamta Sharma, councillors from Mithapur and Jaitpur municipal wards, who had also quit the NCP along with Bidhuri, also joined the Congress on Friday.
Delhi state president of the Congress Jai Prakash Aggarwal made formal announcement of Bidhuri’s joining the party in presence of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters.
“I am joining the Congress to strengthen the secular forces in its fight against fundamentalism,” said Bidhuri.
