Instrumentation can be described as the technology of measurement that services not only physical and chemical, but also all branches of engineering and medicine.

Instrumentation can be described as the technology of measurement that services not only physical, chemical and biological sciences, but also all branches of engineering and medicine. Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences is the only co-educational college in the University of Delhi offering a Bachelor of Applied Sciences (Honours) course in Instrumentation.

Course content
This course has been designed to enable the students to learn the basic principles of electronic, analytical and bio-medical instruments. In B.A.Sc. (H) Instrumentation, the students are given complete know-how of various fields like analytical and biomedical instruments, microbiology, genetics, microprocessors, lab technology and maintenance. Apart from these special branches, the students also study subjects like Biochemistry, Biostatistics, Reliability, Quality Control, Digital Electronics and Operational Amplifier, hardware and programming in microprocessors and computers is also included in the syllabi. As a part of their curriculum, the students have to undertake two months (May-June) training to get practical exposure during second year of their course. They have to do a project in the third year where students have to implement their theoretical knowledge and skills they have acquired during their studies.

Criteria for admission
Students with Mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology are eligible to apply for this course. Physics/Chemistry/Maths or Physics/Chemistry/Biology, whichever percentage is higher, can be considered for admission.

Scope and opportunities
Instrumentation is a multifaceted advanced course, having a high degree of recognition in the modern industrialised world. The course finds application in all types of automated industries. There are immense job opportunities in biomedical, nuclear, analytical, packaging and pharmaceutical fields. This course also finds application in clinical research laboratories. Since the curriculum includes industrial exposure of the students through summer training, project work and seminars, this professionally oriented course offers placement potential as well as eligibility for higher studies in Jiwaji University (Gwalior), Indian Institute of Sciences (Bangalore), Pune University, BITS Ranchi, Devi Ahilya University (Indore), etc. The students can also opt for Master of Business Administration and Master of Computer application courses. The students are also eligible for post graduation courses in biophysics, environmental science, forensic science, nuclear medicine technology, information technology and biotechnology.
