Kalkaji murder: Cops announce reward for info on killers
The Delhi police declare a reward of Rs 50,000 for any information on the contract killers who killed the son-in-law of Mittal Garden owner, reports Vijaita Singh.
Two months after the son-in-law of Mittal Garden owner was shot dead at Kalkaji in south Delhi, the police have announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for any information on the contract killers who are still absconding.
Commissioner of Police YS Dadwal declared a reward of Rs 50,000 on each of the accused. The two bikers are reportedly from to western Uttar Pradesh. One of them even has a case of theft registered against him at Bulandsahar in Uttar Pradesh. The police had released the sketches of the two accused but have not been able to arrest them.
On April 7, Arun Gupta, a businessman, shot dead at point blank range by three contract killers allegedly at the behest of his brother-in-law Dinesh Kumar Mittal in Kalkaji.
The police said that property and financial disputes had led to the murder. On April 13, the police arrested DK Mittal, Mohammad Haroon, Mohammad Parvez and Mohammad Junaid for the crime. Mittal had given a contract of Rs 10 lakh to bump off Gupta and even his sister Sadhana, which could not happen.
"While one of the contract killers had been arrested, the other two are still absconding," said a senior police officer.
The other two hitmen—Shakil and Abu Zar have not been arrested and are still
absconding. The Delhi Police have sought the help of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana as well as Rajasthan Police to help them arrest the two men.
Arun Gupta was married to Sadhana, the sister of DK Mittal. After the death of Madan Lal Mittal last year, the owner of the famous Mittal Garden—a popular party venue in south Delhi—several financial disputes cropped up in the family.
"One of the main triggers to the murder was the Mittal Garden property. Dinesh was wary that Arun was trying to sell a chunk of their ancestral property. He also told us that his sister Sadhana was trying to grab the fixed deposits worth Rs 10.5 crores of their father Madan Lal Mital by fraudulent means," said the officer.
