Taking full advantage of the current situation, black-marketers are raking in moolah by selling a gas cylinder almost double its price in the grey market.

Sonia Arya, a resident of Sector 7, said, "It is very difficult to get a gas cylinder refilled. We are compelled to shell out around Rs 600 to Rs 800 for a cylinder, whose actual cost is Rs 405. I have to purchase a gas cylinder in black as we do not get delivery on time."

Kanta Saxena, another resident, said, "I don't remember when I purchased a gas cylinder at its normal rate. Authorities should certainly look into the matter to solve the problem."

However, the dealers have their own stories to tell. Harish Sharma, president of Gurgaon LPG Association, said that there was no supply issue with Indian Oil dealers.

"There is a shortage reported in the case of Hindustan Petroleum (HP) LPG suppliers only. Things would improve soon," he said.

"Earlier, we were able to deliver cylinders in 15 days. Now, things are improving and waiting period has come down to eight to 10 days. In a week, the situation will be much better and people would get the delivery in just two to three days," said Arun Sachdeva, an official at an HP gas agency.

Authorities, however, have claimed that the supply of LPG cylinder is better in Gurgaon compared to other cities of Haryana.

"Things are absolutely fine here. We are not facing any sort of LPG shortage in Gurgaon where the supply situation is better than other cities of the state. I am personally monitoring this issue. There may be some problems in those areas where consumption of LPG is very high," said Bijender Singh, district food and supply controller.
