LS adjourned over Gujarat fake encounter
The Samajwadi Party and Left members also disrupted the House proceedings, demanding dismissal of the Narendra Modi Government, reports HS Bartwal.
As the Gujarat fake encounter and Sethusamudrama project issues continued to rock Parliament for the third successive day, the Lok Sabha was called off for the day after repeated adjournments with the Samajwadi Party and Left members disrupting proceedings and demanding dismissal of the Narendra Modi Government.
Repeated clashes were witnessed between the BJP and its opponents since morning on the Gujarat issue and the House had to be adjourned twice. In the afternoon, Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal was forced to adjourn it for the day after BJP members trooped into the well of the House demanding an immediate discussion on the Sethusamudram canal project. The BJP move came in retaliation post the UPA uproar over the Gujarat killings.
Earlier in the day, the Samajwadi Party and Left members had held up the proceedings after Question Hour demanding a CBI enquiry into the Gujarat killings while the RJD asked for dismissal of the Modi government.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee pleaded in vain for allowing the calling attention motion on Sethusamudram project to be taken up. But as no one was in a mood to relent, he adjourned the House till the post lunch session.
It was the same story when the House met again and Atwal had to adjourn it again for an hour.
