Metro is best mode of transport
Dayal says while the DMRC can’t assure snag-free service, it is trying to reduce glitches. Anuj Dayal DMRC Spokesperson speaks to HT
Do you think people are losing faith in Metro due to repeated disruptions?
Delhi Metro has become the best mode of public transport and number of commuters is increasing day by day. Today, we cater to some 15 lakh passengers a day.
What do you have to say about repeated glitches?
Such technical glitches take place in Metro services across the world. This is a completely automatic system and one cannot assure snag-free service. But we are constantly trying to reduce glitches.
What is the major challenge DMRC is facing at the moment?
Huge passenger pressure at Rajiv Chowk station. This can be solved only when we lay lines and create intersections but that will be possible only when the phase III extension is awarded to us.
When will the Central Secretariat-Badarpur line open completely?
Construction work and trials are done. We are waiting for the safety clearance certificate.
This line has major parking problem. What is the solution?
We have provision for as many as nine parking lots each with approximately 2,000 sq mt area. Tendering process is on and more parking lots will be ready by January 2011.
