Mind-soul dialogue

The room was gravely echoing the joint prayer uttered by the two, “Lead us from the apparent appearances to the ultimate reality. Lead us from the darkness of delusion to the illuminating enlightenment. Lead us from the sphere of mortality to the changeless eternity.”

Prolonged silence followed for attunement with the prayer. It was then broken by a question, “Wherefrom comes the light?” The answer followed, “From the depths of darkness as you see every night.” The consequent question, “Wherefrom comes the darkness?” The answer emerged, “From the infinite light the finite darkness becomes apparent."

And then a confusing question came, “What then are we doing?” A clear reply followed, “Going beyond the relativity of light and darkness to a state where we are self-illuminating. Going to be the subject from the object.”

Now the mind lost its patience, “We are staying in the same room, offering the same prayer, living in the world of perpetual suffering, trying our best to remove the same. Then in which way we are different? How can you claim to be the subject?”

The silent soul sincerely whispered, “Who told you that we are living in the same world? Yours is the world of desires, perpetual craving, frustration, disease, defilement and death. You are in the world of darkness of delusion. I belong to the realm of light beyond the dualities of delusion. Your world is exclusively private, but my world is open. Nothing exists in me that I claim to be mine or me. It is eternal and unbounded and all pervading observer. I am the embodiment of love, trust, truth and eternity. Whereas you are not.”

The mind was more confused and mistrustful, “If your world is so better then why are you living with us. Why don’t you depart and live in peace?”

The soul whispered, “I am not required to go anywhere to be in peace. I am always in peace, which is my nature. I am in the world of reality, whereas you are in the world of dream. I am keen to see you awakened from the cosmic dream. That is my joy.”
