Jawahar Sircar, secretary, Union Ministry of Culture, inaugurated the site exhibition on Monday, first for an Archeological Survey of India (ASI) protected monument in Delhi. “Similar efforts should be made at other monuments,” Sircar said.

The senior official also launched a project website (www.nizamuddinrenewal.org).

The on-site exhibition comprises graphic panels having photographs by eminent photographers Ram Rahman and Amit Pascricha, sketches by Himanshi Das and the exhibit designed by Archana Saad Akhtar and curated by historian Narayani Gupta. The exhibition has been set up in the restored cells of the west gate (the second gate inside the premises) of the monument.

The Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC), in partnership with ASI, has been carrying out conservation work at the monument.

Ratish Nanada from AKTC said, “A lot of visitors come to Humayun’s Tomb without any guide. This exhibition in a graphic manner will significantly improve their understanding about the World Heritage Site.”

A number of school children and foreigners are regular visitors to the protected site.
