Police today claimed to have solved the murder case of a scrap dealer in the capital with the arrest of his would-be brother-in-law who decided to kill him after he felt that the victim was moving closer to his wife.
A special police team caught Shakeel, a native of Jahangirabad district in Uttar Pradesh, for murdering Akeel, who was a scrap dealer, in the capital.
During interrogation, Shakeel confessed to the crime and said he murdered Akeel, who was engaged to his sister, after he developed an "intimate relationship" with his wife Gulista, police said.
Despite repeated warnings, Akeel started moving close towards Shakeel's wife and this forced him to take the extreme step, police quoted the accused as saying during interrogation.
Shakeel shot Akeel with a 12 bore country made pistol which he bought from his village. After the murder, Shakeel fled away to Gurgaon to his relative's house, they said.
