Residents come up with new plan

The residents of Faridabad, who are facing threat of displacement due to coming up of Metro rail in Faridabad, have presented a novel ideal to the top brass of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Haryana government, including the chief minister.
They want the laying of Metro track from Badarpur to Faridabad via Bypass Road.
As per the existing plan, the Metro link to Faridabad is supposed to come parallel to National Highway 2 (Mathura Road). As the DMRC and Haryana Urban Development Authority (DMRC) are in the process of finalising the Metro yard in Faridabad, a large number of residents of Sector 20A and 20B are opposed to the setting up of Metro yard in their areas fearing displacement.
“We have submitted a 10-point charter of demands to the managing director of DMRC, administrator HUDA, Faridabad, besides chief minister of Haryana, laying thrust on realignment of Metro line parallel to Bypass Road,” said Narveer Singh, who is spearheading the agitation for the residents facing threat of dislocation in case Metro yard comes up in Sector 20A.
Explaining their logic behind realignment demand, Narveer Singh said, “Metro line proposed in the middle of Delhi-Mathura Road will create more hurdles in the movement of traffic on this road.
“If the Metro is realigned parallel to the Bypass road, behind the large number of existing sectors will prove to be a boon. As there are no hazards in construction at that site because the acquisition of land is complete and the whole patch — right from Badarpur border to Ballabgarh — is almost clear”, he added.
In the coming days, since there are about two-dozen sectors coming up with multi-story residential complexes, this area will be balancing the population of Faridabad with the present one on the western side of railway line, he said.
