Additional Session Judge Vinod Kumar on October 16, while convicting the 10 policemen, had sought an explanation from Singh for fabricating evidence by introducing a 7.65 mm bullet head to favour the accused policemen.

Rathi and other convicts had claimed during the trial that a bullet of 7.65 mm was shot at one of them from the victims’ car on March 31, 1997, forcing them to retaliate, which had led to the killings of two innocent Haryana-based businessmen — Pradeep Goyal and Jagjeet Singh.

In his reply Singh further said that it was Vivek Singh, one of the advocates of Rathi, who produced the bullet head representing to the court that it was laying on the floor. It was only after Vivek enquired from him about the calibre of the bullet head, he said it was 7.65 calibre.

To further prove his innocence Singh has sought examination of two advocates — Brij Bhushan, CBI’s counsel in the case, and K.K. Sud who represented one of the accused policemen. The court has now issued summons to the two for October 31.
