The queue at the college was long with some students having to wait for more than an hour to get the form.

“I thought I was early when I reached the college at 11 am but a long queue had already formed by that time. I had to wait for an hour and a half to get the form,” said 17-year-old Sheena Jain.

The admission brochure of the college contains two admission forms and costs Rs 100. Applicants will have to fill separate forms if they are seeking admission to more than one course. Separate forms are also available to apply for a place in the college hostel for Rs 100. Those applying under the sports category will also have to buy a separate sports form for Rs 50. Different forms for each sport will have to be purchased. The college has appointed teachers to answer the queries of applicants and assist them in filling the application forms.

“The procedure to fill the forms is very simple and a lot of help is at hand if we get stuck,” said Bhavook Bhardwaj, an applicant, while another applicant, Nitin Kanwar added, “All the information required for filing the forms has been put up on the notice boards. The form is also very simple.”

“Most students want to know about last years’ cut-off marks and the trend this year and also about the career prospects of each course,” said Nandita Narain, admission in charge, St Stephen’s College.

The college offers 10 courses and 450 seats.

“The applicants should also know that vocational subjects, such as Home Science, Physical Education and Environmental Studies, cannot be included in the best of four percentage,” said Narayan.

The forms are available till June 11 between 9.30 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm till 3.30 pm. The last day for applying is also June 11. The application forms can also be downloaded from the college website, www.ststephens.edu, and mailed to the college. Students also have the option of applying online.

“The online application procedure is also very popular as outstation students don’t have to come to Delhi to apply,” said Narayan. The college received 28 online applications on day one.

The college conducts interviews after the cut-off marks are declared. The list of candidates selected for interviews will be put up on June 14.

The college has also set up a different room for sale of forms for the physically handicapped to help them avoid the rush.
