His idea worked and the school cancelled the PTA meeting it had planned for Saturday. But the minor boy hadn’t anticipated that it would come to bite him in the end.
The 13-year-old student of Amrita Public School, dubbed extremely naughty by his teachers, called the school and said a bomb has been planted on the campus. The school received the call around 7:30 this morning.
“The school authorities immediately evacuated everyone and called the police,” said a senior police officer on condition of anonymity, as he is not authorised to speak to the media.
The police rushed to the spot with teams of bomb and dog squads. For two hours the school premises was checked for any sort of suspicious item. Finally, the police declared the call a hoax.
Meanwhile, the police started tracing the origin of the call. “We tracked the number to a PCO booth in Devli, which is near the school. A team
went to the spot and questioned the booth owner about the people who had made calls around 8:00 a.m.,” added the officer.
The police said the PCO owner told them that his neighbour’s son had come around the same time this morning to make calls.
The police reached the boy’s house and questioned him.
“When we sternly asked him, he began to cry and told us that he made the call as he was scared that his
teachers would complain to his parents. He was sure that a bomb scare would close the school for a day,” added the officer.
