Talwar's compounder takes narco test
The CBI took Dr Rajesh Talwar’s compounder, Krishna to Bangalore for a narco-analysis and brain-mapping test, report HT Correspondents.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took Dr Rajesh Talwar’s compounder, Krishna to Bangalore for a narco-analysis and brain-mapping test on Wednesday.
While the brain-mapping test was conducted till late in the evening at the Forensic Science Laboratory, Bangalore, the narco test could be conducted in a day or two.
Sources said since the agency has decided to conduct scientific tests on Krishna, it meant they had picked up a definite of investigation.
On Tuesday, the CBI had said murders of Aarushi and Hemraj were pre-planned. The CBI has already subjected Krishna to two polygraph tests.
While Krishna hasn’t been placed under arrest, sources said his constantly changing statements had raised suspicion.
Narco-analysis test
CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar, who is heading the probe, said Krishna had been examined by the agency to verify his statements given before Noida Police.
“To verify contradictions in his statement given to the Noida police and the CBI, he was subjected to polygraph test on June 9 and 10. To further rule out contradictions appearing in his statement, he has been sent to FSL, Bangalore, for scientific tests,” he said.
CBI said the tests were being conducted with Krishna’s consent. When asked whether they informed the court about the tests, the CBI said the tests were being conducted as per provisions of law. Krishna was taken to Bangalore early Wednesday morning. Kumar himself flew for Bangalore in the evening.
Narco-test if court permits
Sources at FSL said tests were carried out under the supervision of Dr S. Malini, assistant director, FSL. “We are not sure about narco-analysis. Perhaps, that will be done tomorrow only if the officials show us that they have the court’s permission,” sources said. “The person who is subjected to a narco test need not be placed under arrest.
The investigating agency should define the status of the person on whether he is an accused, suspect or a witness,” said senior criminal lawyer, RK Naseem.
Nupur undergoes test
Defense counsel Praveen Rai said a CBI team had taken Talwar’s wife, Nupur, and she was later subjected to a psychological test. “The test was conducted by a team of psychiatrists and she was again asked the same questions that they have been asking her over the last few days,” Rai said.
Krishna innocent: family
Krishna’s niece and brother-in-law have stated that he is innocent and were sleeping at home along with other family members on the night of May 15-16 when Aarushi and Hemraj were murdered.
“He hasn’t come back home since May 16 when he had gone with Talwar’s driver Umesh. We have been provided with no information by the CBI,” said his niece Sunita.
She said Krishna was very much at home on the night when the murders took place. “We reached home around 9 pm after which he had dinner and later went to sleep. My father and brother were watching a cricket match on television. We live in one room and if anybody gets up or goes outside, others get to know. Krishna came to know about the murders the next day,” Sunita said.
Their lawyer said the CBI had illegally detained Krishna.
Sunita denied allegations that Krishna would talk to Aarushi on the phone. “I am being implicated in the case. They are trying to save Talwar. I was sleeping in the house on the day of the murder,” Krishna had said on Tuesday.
