A senior police officer said the victim Shilpa, 33, was alone at her house when the two knocked at her door. She opened the door and the two introduced themselves as enumerators from the UIDAI.

"They claimed they had come to take details of her family for their UID cards. She allowed them in and went to get the documents. One of the assailants followed her and knocked her out with a handkerchief, laced with sedatives and robbed the house," said the senior officer.

The matter came to light after Shilpa’s husband reached home and found her unconscious on the floor.
