Thieves lock up family, rob trader’s house

A businessman’s house in Narela was ransacked and cash and jewellery worth around Rs 35 lakh was stolen on Thursday night.
According to the police, the robbers had locked the family in the room they were sleeping in before they ran away with the valuables.
Sushil Garg, had made a call to the police control room to inform them about the theft, said a senior police officer.
A case of theft has been registered in connection with the incident and teams have been formed to follow up on the case. They will try to identify and catch the thieves, the officer said.
A female member of the Garg family had contested the recently concluded Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections.
Garg in his complaint told the police that they were sleeping when the thieves entered their house, scaling the wall.
“They bolted the room from the outside. The cupboards and furniture items were thrown in disarray and the thieves took away cash and jewellery worth Rs 35 lakh,” shared the officer quoting from Garg’s complaint.
Garg told media persons that the police reached his house almost two hours after the call. A forensic team visited Garg’s house and collected evidences for further investigation, the police officer added.
