In a bid to have Vice Chancellor Deepak Pental accede to their demands, teachers of almost all affiliated colleges have failed to submit the internal assessment marks to their respective college principals.

With the April 21 deadline for submission long gone, the examination department of DU is now anticipating almost a month’s delay in examination results for all three years.

“Out of 60 affiliated colleges, only three (Lady Shri Ram, Deshbandhu College evening and St. Stephen’s) have submitted complete internal assessment information. We need a month to moderate marks and tabulate results. In all likelihood, results will be delayed,” said a varsity official requesting anonymity.

Most teachers are against implementation of the semester system at the undergraduate level from the new academic session. They feel it is being done in haste and “in an autocratic manner” and “without discussion or deliberation.” As a last resort, the varsity has moved court against the Delhi University Teacher’s Association (DUTA), which was served a notice on Monday. The teachers’ refusal to submit internal assessment evaluation was done at the behest of DUTA. “The DUTA has a great role to play as far as fighting for teachers rights is concerned but it has no right to ask teachers to sit on students’ results. It’s an illegal call,” said Vice Chancellor Pental.
