The school believes in treating every student as an individual with unique abilities. The motto of the school is ‘arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached’, taken from the clarion call of Swami Vivekananda to the youth of the nation.

“Apart from individual care, the emotional needs of each child is taken care of,” said principal Madhu Chandra. “The school believes that communicating with the child is extremely important, and that is why we constantly focus on the same and also try to inculcate the right values and culture in children.”

The school lays stress on extra-curricular activities and sports, with students doing well in state, national and international competitions.

Clubs, workshops make campus alive

Apeejay Noida, which opened in 1981, was one of the first schools of the region. Since then, it has pursued both academic and non-academic excellence. Built on 16 acres of land, Apeejay has a 1,200-seater auditorium and a well-stocked library with more than 20,000 books.
The school has several clubs and societies, such as robotics club, literary club and hospitality club that make the campus an interesting place. Regular life-skills workshops and career counselling sessions are conducted throughout the year for students.

Principal N.N. Nayyar believes that education “acts as a spark” to enrich the individual. The school strives to live up to its motto — “Soaring high is my nature”.
The school also runs ‘enrichment programmes’ for its teachers to update their skills.

Fostering Tolerance

Kothari International School, run under the aegis of the Sharda Mansukhlal Kothari Charitable Trust, was started in 2005. Each class at the school is designed to hold not more than 25 children — this ensures that the class size is small and constant.

“We want our children to be the custodians of their own spiritual and individual well-being and try our best to inculcate tolerance among them, something, which is greatly amiss these days,” said principal Nidhi Sirohi.
The school focuses on sensitising students to the needs of others and they are often taken on field trips.
Its students have recently bagged awards in cricket, skating and swimming. “Our school is the only one in this region to have a daily 40-minute games period,” said Sirohi.
Teachers at Kothari undergo regular in-house training.

Eco-awareness, book reading for students

Somerville School, Noida was established in 1987. The school lays a great deal of stress on academic excellence, which can be seen from the results of the Class 10 and class 12 CBSE exams. Somerville students take part in a host of co-curricular activities to enable each child to discover and hone his or her talent.
The school has well-equipped laboratories, which include computer and art labs.
Students representing the school have consistently put up a good performance and won accolades for the institution.
Apart from academics, Somerville has a good extra-curricular programme. Book weeks and environment awareness programmes are regularly held and students are encouraged to take part in community service. As part of holiday homework, students are asked to read a number of novels, which are then discussed in class.

Smart classes for smart children

Started in 1989 with about 600 students, Vishwa Bharati today has a strength of almost 3,500 students. The school has an aesthetically laid out campus with imposing buildings supporting a hi-tech infrastructure including ‘smart’ classes.

The school is reputed for its excellent results each year at the Board exams. Students have won honours for their school in basketball, football and skating. “Not only do we focus on the all-round development of our children, we also lay great emphasis on value-based education and try to instil in our children, the core Indian values and teach them to respect their cultural heritage,” principal Sujata Dewan said.

Making students responsible citizens

Among the older schools in Noida, Cambridge School aims at creating responsible citizens out of its students through constant interaction with the community they live in.
The school has well-equipped science and other laboratories. An attractive feature of its general science lab is a three-dimensional periodic table that has a collection of almost all the elements in the form of their respective ores, to enable better understanding.

Cambridge has a strong teacher-training programme, with regular workshops held in important fields, such as adolescent empowerment and leadership.

The school has a dedicated counselling centre, with organised guidance to students understand their personal strengths, and relate them to their educational and vocational choices. Five counsellors help students with their personal problems.

Parents are part of the solution here

Khaitan Public School believes that a close synergy between parents, students and teachers is crucial for the overall development and well-being of a child. The school conducts regular parent-teacher meetings, orientation programmes and career counselling sessions.
Khaitan Public School has an innovative approach to learning, involving a mix of classroom teaching with audio-visual aids and co-curricular activities for students according to their age.
An average of 34 students in each class ensures individual attention and close supervision. Academics are a strong point, too: About 23 per cent students scored more than 90 per cent in the Class 10 boards this year.
Teachers regularly attend workshops, seminars and in-service training programmes to remain updated on the latest developments and changes in teaching strategies and curriculum.
