“He raped me several times. He tried to repeat the same thing again a few days back,” she said.

“I narrated the incident to my husband and mother-in-law but they told me to keep quiet. My husband and I started living separately. But my husband started beating me up saying I am no longer fit for him as per the religious laws. After my delivery, my father-in-law tried to force himself again. I resisted and told my mother,” said Salima.

She was brought for a medical-test at MMG hospital, Ghaziabad. Her father said her in-laws are influential people and were threatening them to take the case back.

“I will fight till the end. I don’t have the support of anyone, including my husband. Also during my pregnancy, they tortured me,” said a frail Salima, holding her child.

The police arrested Salima’s father-in-law and and are trying to find out the whereabouts of her husband to get into more details about the case, said police officer Rajesh Divedi, in-charge of Loni police station.
