"The duo threatened Prem Singh, who is a transporter and resident of south Delhi, that they would kidnap his 15-year-old son if he did not pay Rs.500,000 to them," the officer said.

The duo were jointly running a leasing finance company in east Delhi's Laxmi Nagar area.

"They hatched the conspiracy to extort money from her uncle as they suffered losses in their business. They threatened to kidnap his son and demanded Rs.500,000. Their lavish lifestyle led to a financial crunch and they also came under heavy debt," the officer added.

Two mobile phones, three SIM cards and a memory card have been recovered from their possession, police said.
