The body of an unidentified woman, possibly in her early thirties, that had been stuffed in a blue plastic bag, was found on a local train at the New Delhi railway station on Monday, police said. The bag was found in the ladies’ compartment of the train.
According to the police, the woman seemed to have been killed before her body was stashed away below a seat on the train.
The body had strangulation marks and police have registered a case of murder. They are trying to identify the deceased and nab her killers.
“We received a call around 12:30am about a bag containing a woman’s body found on board the EMU local from Panipat to Ghaziabad, which was on platform number nine. The unattended bag was spotted by a passenger, who found it suspicious and made a call to the police control room,” said a senior railway police officer.
A police team reached the spot and took the bag in their custody. They were told the body had been found on a train which had just pulled into the station from Panipat.
“The victim seems to be aged between 30 and 35 years and was wearing a brown salwar suit. Her legs, hands and neck were tied with a green plastic rope,” the officer said, adding they were trying to ascertain whether a person of her description had recently been reported missing from the NCR.
