Yusuf's bail extended in M'bai blasts case
A SC bench headed by Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan has said the interim bail granted to Yusuf on February 29 on medical ground will continue.
The Supreme Court on Monday extended the interim bail granted to 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict Yusuf Abdul Razak Memon, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by a TADA court.
A bench headed by Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan said the interim bail granted to Yusuf on February 29 on medical ground will continue.
The bench, which had said it would review Yusuf's bail before extending it further granted four weeks to CBI to file its affidavit on its stand.
The court had granted interim bail to Yusuf after his medical report had confirmed he was suffering from schizophrenia and needed a supportive environment which could not be provided in jail.
The CBI had not opposed Yusuf's plea strongly and said that the court should review his interim bail after every three months. Yusuf is related to absconding accused and mastermind of the blasts Tiger Memon.
