Are there special seats for NCC cadets?

The ISC board has 100 marks practical and 100 marks theory for computer science. How is the best of four marks calculated then?

If the practical marks are more than 30 then the students will face a 2.5 percent disadvantage from the best of four marks.

If a student has studied elective English as well as core English, do they get any advantage?

The student who wants to take English or Hindi honours and calculates his elective English marks in the best of four, get a 2.5 percent advantage.

Which are the courses for which DU allows entrance test?

There are three courses in which selection is done on the basis of an entrance test:Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor in Business Economics(BE) and Bachelor of Business Administration in Financial and Investment Analysis (FIA). Apart from this, entrance test is also held for the Bachelor of Multimedia and Mass Communication course offered at Indraprastha College for Women. The Bachelor of Elementary Education course offered at eight DU colleges also uses an entrance to select eligible students.

What foreign language can student study in DU?

DU offers 3 year honours degree at the Department of Germanic and Romanic Studies. Apart from this, colleges also offer certificate courses in French, German and Spanish.

Is there a quota for Jammu and Kashmir migrants?

The wards of Kashmiri migrants will be registered centrally by the university for admission to various undergraduate courses in different streams from June 5 at the conference centre. The allotment of seats to the courses/colleges will be made on the basis of preference-cum-merit, not more than three seats in one college, one seat in one stream. One seat in merit quota as an additional seat will be reserved in each technical institute under the Faculty of Technology for admission to BE courses for the academic session.

What is the qualification required to pursue Home Science (hons)?

Science is must for students who want to pursue honours in it, but starting this year the subject will not be treated as vocational and can be included in best of four.

Does students who have a gap year at a disadvantage?

There is nothing called a gap year or age limit in Delhi University.

Will an OBC certificate of 2011 be valid for admission this year?

No the student has to produce the latest non-creamy layer document which has to include the students name and not his/her parents name.

How can one avail hostels available at DU colleges?

After the admission in respective courses, students have to separately apply for college hostels.

Is mathematics compulsory to study Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS)?

Yes mathematics is compulsory not only for BMS but also for those who want to study Bcom (hons) and Economics (hons).

What is the procedure for admission to ECA and sports quota?

Students have to apply separately for sports and ECA in respective colleges. The registrations for the same start from May 28. For sports, three will be a centralized fitness test in the university. Then for both sports and ECA there will be trials in respective colleges

For science courses, what is included in the best of four marks calculation?

Admission to BSc (hons) courses are given considering the Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology (PCMB) marks. For honours in food technology Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology is required.

If I have registered on the DU website do I still need to fill up the offline form?

No. If you’ve completed your registration online and made your payment there’s no need to fill the offline form.

Can I enroll myself for a certificate language course along with my regular graduation course?

Yes. Many colleges offer certificate courses for German, Spanish and French. However, it is advisable not to enroll yourself for any of these during the 1st year.
First understand how your regular course works and then plan your certificate course accordingly.

Do students with a year’s gap face disadvantages?

No. All you need are the necessary documents. There is no age limit.

How does one apply through the ECA or sports quota?

Each college has a separate form that needs to be filled. For sports there is centralised fitness test and trials. Similarly, under ECA, a committee will conduct trials.

For a science course, which subjects need to be included in the best of four marks?

Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology marks for applying to BSc (Hons) courses.

Is there any relaxation for women candidates?

Varies from college to college. However, the upper limit has been fixed at 3%.

After the declaration of the cut-off, are students given admission on first come fist serve basis?

There is no first come first serve policy. Admission is given only if the students meets the cut-off.
