IIIT-B’lore to offer online data analytics course with UpGrad
The online programme, which is of 9 months duration, aims to train over 10,000 professionals for the data analytics industry. The programme will include modules in statistics, data visualisation & BI, predictive modelling, machine learning and big data.
International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIITB) has tied up with online education platform UpGrad to offer postgraduate diploma in data analytics, starting May 2016.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with some mathematics background and 60% or equivalent passing marks. Weightage will also be given for work experience. Students have to take an aptitude test designed by UpGrad and IIITB to test their readiness for the programme. Those wanting to be exempted from the test have to have a minimum GRE, GMAT or CAT score. Overall, the profile will be considered at a holistic level, taking into account academic background, work experience and entrance assessment score.
“Successful students will be offered a postgraduate diploma from IIIT Bangalore and will also receive an UpGrad certification. The students will be assessed continuously throughout the programme through quizzes, projects, peer-to-peer assessment, class participation and assignments - which will form part of the overall grade. There will also be proctored exams that students will have to take at the end of each quarter,” says Mayank Kumar, CEO and co-founder UpGrad, in conversation with HT Education.

“The programme will also feature a three-month industry project where students will work on real industry problems in a domain of their choice. The academic framework and pedagogy of the programme is conceptualised and designed by leading faculty members of IIIT-B in collaboration with a network of corporate partners, guest lecturers and industry speakers,” a press release said.
