The year started on an eventful note for Aishwarya Rai (now Bachchan) with the release of Mani Ratnam's Guru on January 12. The film saw Aishwarya and Abhishek as a lovey-dovey married couple. The on-screen chemistry was apparent and viewers as well as people from the film circle probably knew even before the couple that they were meant to spend their lives together.

The winds of union started blowing in the New York premiere of the film Guru when Bachchan Jr proposed to the doe-eyed beauty. Forgetting their bleak past, Ash and Abhishek who were best friends before turning lovers, decided to tie the knot.

But the news took some time to come. In the meantime, rumour mills worked overtime speculating the possiblity of this relationship. It was not before the couple formally announced their engagement that the nation rejoiced and enthusiastically waited for every bit of information on their expected wedding.

The wishes of millions of her fans came true when the couple finally tied the knot on April 20.

The newly married couple interrupted their honeymoon for making their presence felt on the opening night of the 60th Cannes film festival. The duo apparently looked fresh and very much in love.

The French fans of this flawless beauty could not have believed their luck when Ash along with Abhishek and her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan went to Roland Garros to attend French Open 2007.

In the later part of the year, Aishwarya expanded her global horizons with a few international projects like Sir Ben Kingsley's film on Taj Mahal, Pink Panther 2 and The Last Legion.

Aishwarya's reluctance to do steamy roles post marriage also came into news. It is even rumoured that Aishwarya declined a film opposite John Abraham.

Aishwarya never had to make efforts to look beautiful, but her not-so-happening dress sense had been a talking point for some of her critics. But of late, Aishwarya seems to have come out of this jinx as she has grabbed the title of Most Stylish Actor (Female) in the recently held Lycra MTV Style Awards 2007.

As Aishwarya Bachchan turns 34 on November 1, the actress continues to transform herself according to the needs of the time. Her Dhoom 2 avatar speaks volumes about her growing style quotient. Clearly, Ash, the diva of the millennium continues to rule the heart of millions.
