Navya Naveli Nanda took to Instagram Stories to share a quote about goal setting not being a factor that separates a successful person from an unsuccessful one.

Navya Naveli Nanda, the granddaughter of actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, shared a quote about goal setting not being one of the factors of success. The quote suggested that those who fail can have ambitious goals too, and one needs to consider an alternative approach to goal setting.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Navya wrote, “If successful and unsuccessful people share the same goals, then the goal cannot be what differentiates the winners from losers.” This school of thought advocates setting up a system to make continuous improvements instead of having goals.

Navya, who is the co-founder of healthcare platform Aara Health and founder of the non-profit organisation Project Naveli, has been vocal about women’s issues. In an Instagram post earlier this month, she talked about gender equality being a ‘distant reality as the pandemic continues to affect women disproportionately’.

“As we watch the second wave unfold in India, and process the devastation, women are being hit the HARDEST,” Navya wrote in her post. She also shared a list of organisations working to help women amid the Covid-19 pandemic and urged everyone to support them.

Earlier this year, Navya shared her own experience of being undermined as a woman in a male-dominated industry. She was in conversation with the other three founders of Aara Health.

Navya had said that there is an internal feeling of needing to constantly prove oneself as competent enough, being a part of an industry ‘largely dominated by men’. “So whenever we are put in the spotlight, talking to a vendor or a doctor... All of us have been in situations where we are talking to somebody, most likely a man, who is mansplaining and talking to us in a very condescending manner,” she had said.

While many of Navya’s family members - grandparents Amitabh and Jaya, uncle Abhishek Bachchan, aunt Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - are actors, she has no inclination to enter the film industry. She is gearing up to start working with her father, Nikhil Nanda, in the family business (Escorts).
