'Anxious' Shah Rukh Khan says he'll bite his nails till Darlings' release, praises 'lil one' Alia Bhatt

Shah Rukh Khan lauded Alia Bhatt and called her 'lil one'. He also spoke about their next film Darlings. Alia's Eternal Sunshine Productions is co-producing the film with Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment.

Actor Shah Rukh Khan has praised 'lil one' Alia Bhatt for sharing the responsibility of co-producing their upcoming film Darlings. Taking to Twitter, Shah Rukh quote tweeted Alia Bhatt and revealed that he is also anxious and will be 'biting his nails' till the release of the film. Alia has produced her first film Darlings through her banner Eternal Sunshine Productions, in collaboration with Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment. Shah Rukh tweeted, "Lil one I am also so anxious that u shared the responsibility of Eternal Sunshine Productions first film with me…that I will be biting my nails till it releases. But I feel we have a lovely film and you ar the soul and sunshine of all things Darlings."

Sharing the trailer of Darlings on Twitter, Alia had written on Monday, "My first film as a producer!!! So excited nervous thrilled emotional to share it with you!!!! DARLINGS TRAILER OUT NOW!" Darlings marks the directorial debut of writer Jasmeet K Reen. The Mumbai-set dark comedy will start streaming on Netflix from August 5. Apart from Alia the film also features Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew.

The trailer shows Alia and Shefali kidnapping and torturing the former's husband Hamza (Vijay). They take help from Roshan's character Zulfi. Alia and Shefali later visit a police station to file a missing person's complaint against Hamza. The trailer also reveals why the mother-daughter duo decided to kidnap Hamza.

According to the official synopsis, the film explores the lives of a mother-daughter duo trying to find their place in the city, "seeking courage and love in exceptional circumstances while fighting against all odds". Earlier speaking about the film, Alia had said in a statement, "Darlings holds a very special place in my heart, it's my first film as a producer that too with Red Chillies. We are very proud and happy how the film has shaped up and we hope it will entertain and engage audiences the world over."

Alia has several films in the pipeline including Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy. The film will release on September 9 this year. She recently wrapped up two films--Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Ranveer Singh and her Hollywood debut Heart of Stone with Gal Gadot.

Currently, Shah Rukh is gearing up for the release of Pathaan, backed by Yash Raj Films and directed by Siddharth Anand. It also features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham and will release on January 25, 2023. He also has filmmaker Atlee's Jawan. The movie will land in theatres on June 2, 2023. Shah Rukh will also be seen in Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki, which will release on December 22, 2023, along with Taapsee Pannu.
