Alia and her mother Soni Razdan were making an appearance on Zee Cafe’s Starry Nights 2.OH in 2019, when the host asked Soni who among her and Mahesh Bhatt was the stricter parent. She said, "Me only. Mahesh was never there. He was always shooting." Komal then asked Alia if she used to miss her father because he was constantly on the sets, the actor said that she didn't because she wasn't used to him being at the home.

Alia explained, “For me, he was always like a celebrity who would walk into the house and suddenly go away. I didn’t miss him as such because I did not really have him. But after a couple of years, he only started trying to make efforts to spend more time with us, we used to play snakes and ladders together. The real friendship started when I started working, and I understand now, it is such a consuming job.”

Soni also recalled some anecdotes about Alia's childhood, and revealed that the actor used to be a "very obedient child." The actor, who appeared as Alia's on-screen mother in the 2018 film Raazi, shared that the only way Alia troubled her as a child was how she was fussy about the dresses she would wear. She said, "I would have to give her choices and she would pick her dress out knowing very well exactly what she wanted to wear."

Alia Bhatt recently arrived in the Maldives for a birthday getaway with Soni and her sister Shaheen Bhatt. On the work front, Alia's Gangubai Kathiawadi has become a box office success by grossing over 100 crores since its release earlier this month. She will be next seen with Ram Charan and Jr NTR in SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which is scheduled for a release on March 25.
