This week I witnessed art of a different kind at the India Art Fair 2012, held in Delhi. Not the usual performing arts that our industry offers, but the other booming industry that comes with unimaginable price tags. With various stalls put up by art galleries (Indian and international) at Rs 3 lakh per stall, the display was a visual feast with paintings and installations offering enough food for imagination.

Coming from a family that’s deeply been associated with the art, meeting the artist who knew me as a kid was a pleasure. They were stunned to see me all grown up. It was a nice change from my cheeks being pinched as a kid to them now telling me how nice the last ad that they saw me in was! I needed to get away from the week of hobnobbing with the finest from the art world at the Sotheby’s preview and Osian auction. I wormed my way out of the auction and catch Agneepath on the day of it’s release. The touch of class with the arty stuff went out the window when thoughts of yummy dhaba food hit me. So off we went to Khan Chacha’s and then a midnight trip in the freezing weather to Pandara Road. The night ended with some sumptuous kulfi from the kulfiwallah stationed there.

I was called for a script reading for an upcoming movie back in Bombay, which unfolded really well, and got me pretty excited. The only problem is that there isn’t any surety that the film will take off. Nevertheless, I am kicked about the story. Reading a script is sometimes the most painful part but when a script is good, it can hook you. I eventually managed to read all of 60 pages on my tiny BlackBerry screen!

Next up was a pending second shoot for a popular toothpaste brand. They say you don’t get second chances, but in this case, the ad for the south was a breeze and gave me the chance to perfect myself, since it was exactly the same ad I shot in Hindi not too long ago. The work front is getting warmer with more ad shortlists in store. At least the warmth of being back home in Bombay means I can now venture out without 10 layers of clothing and get dressed for my meetings in under half an hour!!!
