The couple is the most recent to tread the marital path. Lara and Mahesh got married in a civil ceremony in Mumbai on Feb 16, attended by the couple’s family. It was followed by sangeet ceremony on Feb 18 at a beach resort in Goa. The following day, the duo had a Christian-style wedding at at the Taj Aguada. The ceremony was attended by prominent names from the field of sports and glamour alike.


Imran Khan-Avantika Malik

When: January 10’2011

Bollywood’s chocolate boy Imran Khan got married to his childhood sweetheart Avantika at a civil ceremony at his actor-uncle Aamir Khan’s place in Pali Hill. In the first week of Feb, Aamir and his wife Kiran threw a grand reception for the couple in Mumbai. The gala was attended by Bollywood divas such as Rani Mukerji, Ameesha Patel, Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor.


Vivek Oberoi-Priyanka Alva

Actor Vivek Oberoi wed Priyanka Alva, daughter of

former politician Jeevraj Alva, in a lavish Bangalore ceremony. The wedding took place at the Alva farmhouse that had a touch of traditional Punjabi exuberance and the cultural beauty of coastal Karnataka. The wedding was solemnised as per Hindu rituals. Celebs Sushmita Sen and Dia Mirza graced the occasion.


Sanjay Dutt-Maanyata

The couple got married secretly at Taj Exotica in Goa on Feb 7 under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. This was followed by a traditional Hindu wedding which was held on Feb 11. Dutt waved to fans and media outside the friend’s home where the wedding was held in a suburb of Mumbai. Dutt wore a traditional long jacket embroidered with golden thread.


Shilpa Shetty-Raj Kundra

Clad in a red sari and flaunting diamonds, Shilpa exchanged vows with London-based businessman Raj Kundra in a close-knit family affair which can be dubbed as a ‘fairy-tale wedding’. It was a traditional Mangalorean ceremony as per the Bunt tradition. The

couple’s reception, that took place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai on November 24, was a star-studded affair.


Abhishek Bachchan –Aishwarya Rai

When: April 20’2007

One of the most talked about Bollywood weddings of recent times. The ceremony, held at Bachchan’s Mumbai bungalow Prateeksha, was attended by only close friends and family. Closely guarded from the media, the event was dramatically punctuated by one bizarre incident wherein a fledgling actor Jhanavi — claiming to be Abhishek’s secret lover — publicly slit her wrists in protest.


Aamir Khan-Kiran Rao

When: December 28, 2005

The couple got married in a civil ceremony in Mumbai and the family then had a gala celebration at Panchgani. The three-day long celebration of the wedding culminated to a grand reception party which attended by several film stars, including Rani Mukherjee and Anil Kapoor. Security was very tight at the venue and only the special invitees were allowed inside.


Raveena Tandon-Anil Thadani

When: February 22’ 2004

Their royal wedding took place at Shiv Niwas Palace, Udaipur. For the big day, Raveena wore her mother’s 35-year-old wedding saree that was re-designed as a lehenga by designer Manav Gangwani. It was embellished with semi-precious stones and embroidered with pure gold fibre. B-town bigwigs such as Amit-abh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan were present.


Karisma Kapoor-Sunjay Kapur

In a typical Kapoor tradition, this high profile wedding was held at the home of Karisma grandfather’s R K Cottage. The couple opted for an

hour-long Sikh wedding ceremony. It grabbed eyeballs because of its grandeur. The food included a variety of cuisines like Oriental, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Italian, French and Continental.


Akshay Kumar-Twinkle Khanna

When: January 17’ 2001

Their hush-hush wedding took place at the residence of designer duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla in Mumbai. A low-key affair, it was attended by fifty-odd guests, including politician Amar Singh, actor Aamir Khan and director Dharmesh Darshan. Interestingly, their marriage date had already been fixed for Feb 5, but the two decided to take an early plunge.


Hrithik Roshan-Sussanne Khan

Hrithik married Sussanne at the heavily-guarded Golden Palms Resort and Spa, near the Bangalore-Pune highway. The ceremony took place as per Hindu and Muslim rituals. The ceremony was restricted to few guests that included relatives and close friends. Belly

dancing, a performance by singer Sukhbir and an array of Indian delicacies were the main attraction.


Ayesha Takia- Farhan Azmi

When: March 1’2009

Ayesha got married to restaurateur and the son of politician Abu Azmi, Farhan Azmi amidst lavish celebrations. The wedding reception function was held at CCI Club, Churchgate which saw the presence of many Bollywood stars and politicians


Eesha Koppikhar-Timmy Narang

When: November 29, 2009

Eesha married her long time boyfriend Timmy Narang at Iskon temple in Juhu. Though the marriage was a private affair, the reception at Narang house was a grand affair.


Amrita Arora-Shakeel Ladak

When: March 4’2009

The couple had a church wedding first which was attended by their close pals from the film industry. Amrita and Shakeel then had a nikaah too. Their marriage was a complete star studded event.


Konkona Sen Sharma- Ranveer Shorey

When: September 3’ 2010

While Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey got married on September 3, pictures of their quiet wedding were released almost a month later. Konkona's mother Aparna Sen, with her husband Kalyan Roy and father Mukul, with his wife Vinita were among those present at this hush us affair.


Manisha Koirala-Samrat Dahal

Bollywood star Manisha Koirala tied the knot with the U.S. return Nepali, Samrat Dahal in a traditional ceremony at the Gokarna Forest Resort, 10kms east of the capital, attended by family member and close friends only. Interestingly, Manisha is seven years older to the businessman Dahal.
