DU’s best dressed crowd
The second of our four surveys on Delhi University’s best of the best.
Apart from courses and faculties, what is it that makes a college attractive? To help you make a better choice, HT City conducted a survey of Delhi University’s (DU) colleges to find out which of them have the best canteen, which college has the best-dressed crowd, which college has the most happening freshers’ party, and which college fest is the best.
Five hundred students (10 from each of DU’s 50 colleges) were interviewed. The respondents were asked to rate the top three colleges. Here is the result of this survey, which was conducted by Market Excel Data Matrix, a market research company. Last week, we released the Best Canteen list. This week, we present the list of the Best Dressed Crowd. The number one position goes to St Stephen’s College. It is followed by Shri Ram College of Commerce. The number three on the list is the all women’s college, Miranda House.
Stephen’s style
Most respondents who voted for St Stephen’s said that the college students there have a “good dressing sense.” According to one student, “the kids in this college are fashionably dressed because most of them belong to high profile families.” More than one student pointed out that the St Stephen’s crowd is known for flaunting “expensive dresses and costly accessories.”
Shri Ram College of Commerce may have lost out to St Stephen’s, but it manages to retain its fashion lusture. Most respondents said that Sri Ram students are “very stylish and always dress up in an attractive way.” One student said, “The people in this college are very trendy and cool.”
Miranda House landed in number three spot, but the girls got good comments from the respondents. “The girls dress in the latest fashion,” said a respondent. Another cheered the Miranda girls saying, “The students of Miranda House are always very stylishly attired.”
The other fashion crowd
The Jesus & Mary College in the South Campus has been voted the fourth best dressed college in DU. “They are girls and they choose their dresses well,” said a respondent. Another said, “JMC-ites are glamorous.” One student said, “Jesus & Mary girls are very modern.”
The fifth on the list is Hans Raj College. It is followed by Sri Venkateswara College, Lady Shri Ram College, Hindu College, Kirori Mal College and Gargi College.
Talking of Hindu College, a respondent said, “Many there come from rich families and so can afford to buy good quality clothes.”
