Dressed in a fitted striped blazer, high heels, and glitter eyeshadow, Candace Sex and the City Bushnell was looking a bit lost at the Diggi Palace grounds. We caught up with her to ask her about what she made of India's fashion sense, “I think the fashions in India are fantastic. I think Indians invented colour. In New York there’s a tendency to wear black, but here people love wearing colours and they look beautiful. I’m really hoping to sneak out and do some shopping.” She has just finished another book that’s out in a couple of months. “It’s called Summer in the City; it’s Carrie Diaries 2,” she says before moving on to catch the eye of a rather dishy man. Chaos or strategy?
Author of One Amazing Thing Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni’s session was shifted last minute from one venue to the other. There was just one problem. With no signs anywhere remotely suggesting the switch (the festival website unchanged), everyone thought it was a Gulzar session at the Durbar Hall. The result? Crowds thronging to see the poet-lyricist, photographers standing on top of each other popping pictures all the while thinking that Gulzar would be in action any moment now. Instead, poor Chitra held forth. While many were understandably miffed by the sudden swap, some conspiracy theorists — also understandably — saw it as a tactic to get the crowds to attend the novelist’s rather engaging session.
