‘I’ve faced racial discrimination’
Says UK-based singer Hard Kaur who plays an aspiring rapper in Nikhil Advani’s Patiala House, which hits theatres on February 11. Read on for details.
Rapper Hard Kaur, best known for her single Ek glassy… plays a role that mirrors her life in Nikhil Advani’s forthcoming film Patiala House. Kaur was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. After her father was burnt alive in the 1984 anti-Sikh pogrom, young Kaur moved to Ludhiana and then to Birmingham, UK. She says, “I faced racial discrimination from the English as well as Africans during my schooling there.”

Kaur has also sung two songs, Longda lashkara… and Rolla paigaya khamba… for Shankar Ehsaan Loy in Patiala House. Besides, she’s also sung for Remo D’souza’s forthcoming directorial project F.A.L.T.U.
New album
Kaur is quick to add that she’s happy to stick to rapping unless interesting characters come her way. Post the film’s release, Kaur promises party time with her next album Ek Glassy Season 2. She says, “The album is unlike any of her Bollywood music. It’s more like my earlier albums Bombay Deewana and Dhoom. It’s produced by underground music producers Tiger Style (who remixed for Singh is Kinng) and Abhijit Bagani.”
