Still under wraps
Shazahn Padamsee is taking lessons in Hindi diction and dancing for Rocket Singh, reports Neha Sharma.
2009 seems to belong to celebrity kids. After Adhyayan Suman, Sonkashi Sinha and Narmmadaa Ahuja, it is now Shazahn Padamsee’s turn to enter Bollywood. She is the daughter of singer-actress Sharon Prabhakar and adman-actor Alyque Padamsee.
The 21-year-old stage actress has been assisting her parents with their production when she was not on stage.
Now she will make her debut in Rocket Singh, opposite Ranbir Kapoor, who is playing a Sikh marketing executive.
We caught up with the debuting actress for a little chat. She said, “Yes, I’ve signed the film. The shoot is on. I’m in the middle of a shot now. It’s so much fun.”
She assures us that theatre, however, will not take a backseat. She adds, “I’ll continue with theatre. We did shows of The Unspoken Dialogue in Dubai and Muscat. We returned a while ago.”
In keeping with the Yash Raj tradition of keeping their heroines under wraps till the release of the film, Shazahn will not
be allowed to discuss her role till they permit her to.
The film, helmed by Chak De! India director Shimit Amin is slated for a December release. Reportedly, it was s who was the first choice for the role, but it fell into Shazahn’s lap. She does reveal, though, that she is brushing up her Hindi diction and dancing.
She was the cover girl for the magazine FHM India in April last year and has also walked the ramp.
