The place can easily double as a picture-perfect catalogue for his lifestyle and décor brand, India Circus.

Style sensibility: “My style used to be more glamorous but it has mellowed down over the years. Casual chic would sum it up. I’m lucky that my profession doesn’t require me to don formal wear on a daily basis.”

Closet staples: “My closet is full of shorts, which I normally team with a solid-coloured T-shirt or a polo shirt. Pyjama-style pants and fitted trousers round up my repertoire, with a few printed T-shirts thrown in. And all my clothes are dry-cleaned, not machine or hand-washed.”

Colour crush: “I wear a lot of black, and balance it with hints of bright colours. No neon or fluorescent shades for me though. Rust, deep fuchsia, teal and burnt turquoise are some of my go-to colours.”

Shopping haunts: “I shop from all over the world. In Bangkok, I like to explore designs by younger, upcoming designers. I am a very impulsive shopper and don’t spend an endless amount of time in the trial room. Mostly, I just check my size and pick it up.”

Designer dossier: “I normally turn to Lacoste, Fred Perry and Tommy Hilfiger for my polos and to Thomas Pink for shirts. Uniqlo, H&M, Topman and Muji are my favourite high-street labels.”

Style no-no: “I don’t wear designer clothes with loud logos or in-your-face brand names. The branding needs to be subtle.”

Latest buy: “A brown leather sling bag from Coach that I picked up in Hong Kong.”

Watch fetish: “I have a versatile watch collection ranging from Rolex, Longines and vintage Omega to Swatch. I’m all for quirky watches and like to pick up fun pieces from museum shops, artists and designers in Paris, Milan and New York. A chunky purple one from Ellesse is one of my favourites.”

Collector’s special: “I generally pick up spectacles and sunglasses during my travels. My collection is a mix of designer buys and interesting finds with the quirk factor serving as the common thread. Oliver Peoples is a great eyewear brand.”
