After a show down last season - the front row at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week this year is likely to flaunt more big names.
Despite buyer Maria Louisa reportedly saying that designer Rajesh Pratap's line lacked 'Indianness' and flaring tempers about her alleged measly budget of £5,000, the list of international buyers this year includes fashion house Le Bon Marche and Bloomingdales, among others.
FDCI's director general, Rathi Vinay Jha, says, "We're proud that WIFW is being recognised by international markets, media and fashionistas. We've received positive feedback and interest from various fashion councils to partner with them."
However, the presence of international buyers at the Indian fashion weeks has often been questioned - both by Indian buyers and designers, including the likes of Tarun Tahiliani, catering largely to the Indian market.
Even as Indian designers attempt to woo the Parisian shop hangars, the buzz is that Anna Orsini of London Fashion Week whose presence at the last fashion weeks in In- dia resulted in Manish Arora landing a coveted spot at the London Fashion Week in 2005 wE be attending the show this year too.
Also seen would be Dideir Grumbach, president of Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture Paris, the organisation that holds Paris Fashion Week. So wm we see another Indian face on the London or Paris runway? Well, there's only one way to find out - wait and watch!
