It seems that ethnic Indian wear is fast becoming the fashion flavour globally. Hollywood actors Uma Thurman and Debra Messing were recently seen all dolled up in Indian finery in New York City while filming their new television series, Smash.
Thurman, 41, was seen in a pink salwar kameez and accessorised the look with a bindi, a necklace, bangles and a maang tikka in traditional yellow gold. Messing, 43, wore a parrot green and mustard lehenga with gold jewellery. Last month too, actor Catherine Rusoff was seen wearing a salwar kameez at the Golden Globes red carpet.
Fashion Designer Sidhartha Tytler says, “The two actors look stunning in their Indian outfits. While Debra looks much better than Uma, it’s great to see finally India getting the acknowledgement. The credit goes to Indian fashion weeks and designers.” Fashion Designer Niki Mahajan says, “The bright colours of the Indian suit and lehenga are looking great on the actors. I am happy to see Indian designs finally getting their due of worldly recognition.”
