No heroines walking the ramp, no stars hogging the limelight, while the media says blah, the models say wah!

No heroines walking the ramp, no stars hogging the limelight, while the media says blah, the models say wah! Besides the odd appearance by Bipasha Basu for Gauri & Nainika and Kunal Kapoor for Cue, WIFW has proceeded without the Bollywood hoopla.

Veteran model Nina Manuel, who’s returned to Delhi’s fashion scene after two years said, “I’m impressed by how professional Delhi’s fashion scene has become. Bollywood is nowhere to be seen; fashion in Delhi is evolving.” Seconds Nethra Raghuraman, “The fad of getting actresses as showstoppers is gone and models are making the most of it.”

Though she feels their return won’t affect the established models, the younger lot thinks otherwise. Model Vibhinita Verma says, “It’s such a relief that fewer actresses are coming for the shows and we are getting more work to do. They don’t even carry the garment properly, but take all the limelight for the work we do.”

So even with no jhatkas and matkas, no major Bollywood celebrities and no news bytes, WIFW emerges the winner on a different scale: professionalism.
