85-year-old hit by truck, dies

An 85-year-old woman was killed after a truck allegedly hit her while she was returning from a temple on Saturday morning near a bus stand in Manesar.

According to the police, Sukhdei, the victim, was crossing a road when the truck allegedly hit her. She sustained severe injuries and died on the spot, the police said.

A case was registered against the truck driver under sections 279 (rash driving), and 304A (death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code at Manesar police station on Saturday, the police said.

In another similar incident, a 26-year-old man died after a car allegedly hit his motorcycle near Mahindra Wara village on Friday night. The victim’s friend, who was riding pillion, was injured in the accident, the police said.

According to the police, Nirjan, the decreased, and his friend, Vedprakash, worked at a private company in the city.

The incident took place on Friday around 8.30pm, the police said.

“After completing our shift, we were returning home when a WagonR hit us. Due to the impact of the collision, both of us fell on the road. Nirjan hit his head and fainted on the spot,” Vedprakash stated in his first information report (FIR).

He added that Nirjan was rushed to a government hospital in the city where a team of doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Charan Singh, assistant sub-inspector, Bhondsi police station, said, “The suspect is yet to be arrested. The police are trying to trace the number of the car.”

A case was registered against the unknown suspect under sections 279 (rash driving), and 304A (death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code at the Bhondsi police station on Saturday, the police said.
