"He resembled one of my neighbours so I thought it was him. He touched my feet for blessings and said he had started a new transport business and it's his birthday today," Sangal said.

"After I congratulated him he said he had got a gift for me. But I said I would not accept any gifts from him," he added.

In the midst of the talks, the conman suddenly pulled out Sangal's ring and fled on a scooter where his accomplice was waiting.

"I returned home immediately and informed my family. The police control room was informed and a constable from the Civil Lines police station came and took a written complaint from me," Sangal said.

The police officials said they were investigating the matter to nab the accused.

Sector 15, located just off the Gurgaon expressway was developed by Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) and is home to serving and retired ministers, top Haryana police officers and government officials.
