The commuters alleged that the stretch is unsafe for the two-wheelers and is in urgent need of repair, as the stretch is riddled with potholes and commuters move at a high speed.

A 100-metre broken stretch on the Golf Course Road between the upscale Magnolias and Summit Apartments in DLF-5 has turned risky for commuters and motorcyclists.

The commuters alleged that the stretch is unsafe for the two-wheelers and is in urgent need of repair, as the stretch is riddled with potholes and commuters move at a high speed.

The traffic volume on the road is high as many pub/bars, ahataas, malls, corporate offices and high-end automobile showrooms are located on the 8.3 kilometre-long stretch.

The road comprises several junctions, with incoming traffic from various directions, such as DLF Phase 1, DLF Phase 4, DLF 5, Gurugram-Faridabad Road and Golf Course Extension Road.

Commuters alleged that during peak hours, it takes around 20 minutes to cross the stretch due to the potholes.

“This stretch is known as the most happening stretch of the city, as most of the high-end pub/bars are located here, along with the swanky drinking places (ahataas). It is risky to drive at night as a part of the stretch is broken and requires immediate repair,” Swapnil Banerjee, an MNC executive and a resident of Vipul Belmonte, said.

The police said that most of the commuters drive at high speed during the night and a few motorists have lost control over the past and suffered injuries. “Mostly, bikers fell after losing control as the potholed road is not visible from a distance. Only daily commuters are aware of it,” said Arvind Kumar, station house officer, Sushant Lok police station.

“We have asked the DLF officials to ensure that they repair the road at the earliest. We have deployed two constables on each side of the stretch, besides the night patrolling team, starting Tuesday,” Kumar said.

A spokesperson for DLF said, “The vehicle was moving at a high speed before it hit the barricade. Our field agents were there on the ground and they swiftly responded to the incident and called for an ambulance. Monsoon season usually slows down the speed of repair work. However, we are taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of commuters.”
