Liquor trader shot at by 2 bikers, escapes narrowly

A 41-year-old liquor trader was allegedly shot at by two bike-borne assailants on Thursday late evening, while he was returning home in Sector 10, the police said, adding that he had a narrow escape and the bullet hit his car’s window mirror.
According to the police, Satish Chauhan a resident of Basai Enclave near Sector 10 was returning home around 9:30 pm. He had stopped his car to buy fruits from Kadipur village.
“While he was buying fruits, two bike-borne assailants shot at him but the bullet hit on his car’s right side glass window. The victim got down from his car and tried to note down the registration number of the car. Meanwhile, the passersby informed the police control room about the incident,” said Shamsher Singh, assistant commissioner of police(crime).
The police suspect professional enmity as the reason behind the shooting, as the victim is a liquor trader and runs a shop in Khandsa area, said police. Singh said the police are scanning CCTV cameras of the nearby locations to identify the accused who fled from the spot. “We are probing all possible angles, including personal and professional enmity. However, the accused are yet to be identified as no CCTV footage has been recovered,” he said.
A case under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Sector 10 A police station.
