At least 25 Anganwadi centres of Gurgaon and Hisar districts have been chosen to run a special scheme on pilot basis. The scheme launched by the Centre is based on the pattern of play school and is aimed at overall development of children belonging to poor families, a state government official said.

The pilot project will be carried out for eight weeks at Anganwadi centres of Laxman Vihar, Gurgaon village, Amar Colony, Shiv Nagar, Sarhaul, Mollahera, Kartarpuri, Pratap Nagar and Om Nagar.

The official said that special training has been given to Anganwadi workers for taking care of the children while teaching them through games.

“The special feature of this project is that the mental and intellectual status of a child is studied deeply before starting the course,” the official said.

A team constituted by the National Institute of Public Corporation and Child Development would make surprise visits to Anganwadi centres.

Also, feedback would be taken from the parents so that shortcomings could be identified and resolved.
